ESG guidebook and ready reckoner for board of directors

Businesses play a crucial role in sustainable development, with stakeholders increasingly monitoring corporate commitments to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals. They demand transparency, accountability, and alignment of business objectives with social equity and environmental stewardship. This global focus on ESG has driven the creation of regulations, such as those by India's Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), SEBI, CPCB, and MoEFCC, which companies must follow.

In response, ESG has become a priority in boardroom discussions worldwide. To assist, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) have developed an "ESG Guidebook and Ready Reckoner for Boards of Directors" under the CII Corporate Governance Council. This guidebook offers step-by-step guidance on ESG strategies, reporting standards, and compliance. It equips board members with insights to integrate ESG into business strategies, identify risks and opportunities, and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements. By fostering this knowledge, the guidebook aims to support the creation of a sustainable and thriving society.
